AAA Offers Free Access to Anthrosource Content

October 19, 2009- The American Anthropological Association and publishing partner Wiley-Blackwell announced earlier today that they would provide free access to over ten years™ worth of content from AnthroSource, the premier online portal for anthropological research.

Throughout the months of November and December, the public at large will be able to access most AAA journal content published 1997 and later, including American Anthropologist, the association™s flagship title. AAA members currently receive full access to AnthroSource as a complimentary benefit of membership.

"AnthroSource is an amazing tool that allows researchers and scholars to locate anthropological information with just a few clicks," AAA Executive Director Bill Davis said in a statement issued today. "It™s my hope that this two-month trial will attract not only anthropologists to this service, but that it will also allow teachers, students, members of the press and other interested parties in a vast array of disciplines to discover just how valuable AnthroSource is to the scholarly community."

Free access will be provided through the Wiley-Blackwell InterScience online platform, located at

"AAA remains committed to the widespread dissemination of anthropological knowledge," noted Oona Schmid, AAA Director of Publishing. "This effort will, hopefully, bring more attention to all of the wonderful ways anthropological study contributes to the understanding of mankind."--AAA”

Founded in 1902, the American Anthropological Association is the world™s largest professional organization of anthropologists and others interested in anthropology, with an average annual membership of more than 10,000. The Arlington, VA “ based association represents all specialties within anthropology “ cultural anthropology, biological (or physical) anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and applied anthropology.
